Nephrologist Jason Fung, M.D., of Canada has earned the moniker “the fasting master” from integrative medicine specialist Bindiya Gandhi, M.D. Jimmy Moore co-wrote his book, The Complete Guide to Fasting. Together, they define fasting and describe its many approaches, including intermittent, alternate-day, and protracted fasting. Even healthful recipes are offered for culinary ideas. Everyone just starting out on their IF journey should read this book.
The FastDiet by Michael Mosley, whose original edition was a New York Times bestseller, has been updated with fresh research and dish ideas to support your journey. Mosley, a BBC journalist who formerly studied medicine in London, explains his own experience with IF and how it prevented diabetes and helped him decrease his cholesterol. The 5:2 regimen, a sort of fasting that permits you to eat normally five days a week while restricting your calorie intake on the other two, is the subject of this book.
Food Stop Food
Brad Pilon’s intermittent fasting method, described in Eat Stop Eat, calls for eating normally five or six days a week and fasting the other two. The book details the effects of this kind of intermittent fasting on your blood sugar, hormones, metabolism, and brain, among other things. But, it might be difficult to go without food for a whole 24 hours, so it’s a good idea to see your doctor before doing it.

The Obesity Code, another book by Jason Fung, M.D., explores the causes of the obesity epidemic and dispels the myth that consuming too many calories is to blame. He developed this diet, which combines a sort of intermittent fasting with picking entire, unprocessed meals, to treat the underlying problems. This book offers example meal plans as a reference as well as information on what and when to eat.
Diet for Longevity
The fasting-mimicking diet (FMD), which was created by longevity researcher Valter Longo, Ph.D., is described in his book The Longevity Diet. This kind of fasting is based on years of study on both animals and people and reveals advantages that may help improve lifespan, while being unlike regular intermittent fasting.
